Pontiac Repair: brakes, pontiac montana, brake booster

Question
we replaced the front pads, rotors, calipers, and master cylinder. Weve bled both the front and back brakes but still don't have a stiff pedal on a 2001 Pontiac Montana FWD

Answer
Hi Mark:

A stiff pedal would indicate an power assist issue not an air in the lines issue. that would give you a soft or spongy feel to the pedal. if it's stiff I would look at a brake booster as being the issue. Make sure you have ample vacuum to the booster when it's running. get in the van and depress the pedal a few times to bleed the reserve vacuum out of the booster and then with the pedal depressed start the van up the pedal should drop some and fell less stiff. If not the issue is in the booster.
Good luck :)
