Pontiac Repair: turn signal/cruise control lever, 1988 fiero gt, swicth

Question
how to fix cruise control on 1988 fiero gt v6

Answer
Hi harold:

I take it just the stalk broke off and the switch in the column that the stalk attaches to. if this is the case what you need to do is unhook the wire harness for the cruise at the base of the column and attach a fine wire to the hole in the end of the harness. make sure the column is staight and not tilted up or down. then gently pull the harness up through the column and once you het the old harness out cut the wire off at the old swicth harness and then attach it back to the new harness on the new swicth and then pull the wire back down through the column. Basically you are just fishing the harness up and back down into the column without having to disassembly the steering column.. The broken end of the stalk just pulls out of the switch in the column. Good luck :)
