Pontiac Repair: 1998 sunfire GT, battery cables, battery connection

Question
About 1 month my car had a new starter put in.  Before it died the CD player was flashing. When I tried to start it again it was clicking but not turning over. Now today same thing again!!!!! The CD player was flashing and after I got home and turned it off. It would not start, and it was clicking when it was turning over.  P.S. The ABS light has been on for the past couple of days. Don't know if this has anything to do with this or not. I would appreciate if you have any idea before I spend lots of money on a diagnosis. Thanks

Answer
Hi John:

well it sounds to me like you have a battery, connection or a low voltage issue with this car. Have the battery checked. make sure all of the ground connections are good at the battery and under the battery tray. If there is corrosion on the battery cables replace which ever one has the corrosion on it. Lastly that car had a recall on it for an ignition switch issue. You may want to call your local dealer give them you VIN # of your car and have them check to see if that recall was done or not. if your not the original owner you wouldn't know if it was done or not. Good luck :)
