Pontiac Repair: 97 gran dam theft system problems, gran dam, pontiac gran

i have a 1997 pontiac gran dam. one day i had parked if for about 5 mins went back out and tried to start it and it would start for a few seconds and then just stop running. i noticed the anti theft system light blinking. if we left the key on until the light stop blinking it would crank then. after a while that stopped working so we disconnected the battery for about an hour and that worked but stopped working as well. it still starts for a few seconds then cuts off. i am a college student so i really need to find out how to fix this fast and cheap. we already know its the theft system but is there a way to some way to disconnect it?

Your right it is the factory tehft system. More than likley the snsor in the ingnition lock cyclinder has gone bad. there is not "easy" or cheap way to fix it "right" the correct fix is to replace the lock cylinder housing it's self. ther are devices that you can but to bypass it but they are not reliable! and if they are not hooked up right you will be in the same boat that your are right now.
