Pontiac Repair: 92 grand prix interior lites, delay timer, maning

Question
where is the off delay timer located for the interior lites?

Answer
Hi Dave:

On those old ones I think it's park of the head light switch. That is if it has the rocker switch type headlamp switch up high on the dash baord. I don't have access to service manuals for cars older than 1998. The control/relay/timer is all in one. unplug the switch and see if the lights go out. if so that is the control for it. It doesn't mean that is the problem though. if this car is an SE trim it more than  likely has illuminated entry maning that the lights turn on when you lift the door handles up and the lights turn on before the door is opened. The switches in the doos for the illuminated entry and the switches on door latches go bad on those cars. You may want to remove the inside door trim and unplug the switches and see if the lights go off before you unplug the headlamp switch. good luck :}
