Pontiac Repair: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, daytime running lights, pontiac sunfire

Hi Todd
  I'm working on a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2
The daytime running lights do not work. Can only work with
highbeams.  Please help.

Hey Bill:

The most likely cause for this is one or more corroded wire slices in the forward lamp harness. If your handy then take the harness out and remove all the tape from it and you will find one or more of splices rotted out for the headlamps the wire you ned to look for are pink,orange,lite blue and dark blue. maybe brown as well. the elements winck there way inot the harness and rot out the splices. just make sure when you strip off the tape you do not skin any of the insulation on the wires or you will be back in there again. Make sure also that the low beam bulbs are not burnt out. I think on a 2000 the low and high heams are the same bulb just 2 elements in each bulb the newer once had seperate bulbs for hi and lo beam. good luck :}
