Pontiac Repair: 1997 Bonneville - multiple electrical problems., blown fuse, door hinge

Question
Hi, Todd.  I'm having several electrical problems with my Bonneville.  It's the 1997 anniversary edition SE.  About a year ago, my radio (Bose stock w/CD player) started going wacky, and switching stations like crazy.  Someetimes it works fine, though, so I just disregarded that.  Then last week, my interior lights (including trunk light) quit working.  They won't come on at all. None of them. Fuses under the driver side dash all look good. Thinking back, around the time my lights quit working, my door hinge made some crazy creaking noise, but it's not making that noise now.  Also, my reverse tail lights just quit out of the blue.  Is there any explanation for all of these problems?  I'm pretty handy at repair, so I can follow your advice...I might ask an additional question or two if that's ok. Thanks for any pointers you can give me!

Answer
Hi Jill:

The radio is is't own issue it more than likely needs a replacemnet radio or reconditioned unit. As for the lights and chime they are all tied into the same thing the chime module or what is called the rap module ther are 2 of them depending on how the car is equiped. the rap module is retained accessory power module it is under the dash by the fuse box as is the chime module. You will need a repair manual for that it's a pretty complex system to just say Yep this is what's wrong and change "x" part. As for the reverese lmaps it could be a blown fuse, both bulbs burnt out or a transmission position switch... Hope that helps some? Good luck :)
