Pontiac Repair: 1998 Pontiac Sunfire electrical issue, turn signal flasher, pontiac sunfire

Question
My '98 Sunfire is having some electrical issues.  First, I was driving one day, and suddenly, the car quietly just shutdown.  The steering locked up.  Thankfully, I was able to pull of to a parking lot.  I turned the key, and she started back up fine.  Second, the radio always works, but the display (time, radio station) is distorted most of the time.  Third, some days my turn signals work and some days they do not (the hazards always work).  And just recently, my check battery light and ABS light show up on the dash.  Can you please help?  I bought a turn signal flasher, but I cannot locate the location of the old one.  Haynes says it is in the brake pedal bracket above the steering column, but I have not been able to see it.  My fuses are fine.  Thanks!
Sincerely,
Rex

Answer
Hi
I am going to do a little more research on this, but Have tha battery checked.
Have the Alternator checked.
Take the vehicle to a repair shop, and have it checked for codes. If it has some, please follow post back.
I would suspect at this early stage, it MAY be the BCM (Body Control Module). I also MAY suspect the Ignition switch.
please follow post back with ANY codes you can have retrieved by your mechanic.
Thanks
