Questioni tried to reset the theft system it didnt work the relay you asked about is not there i hooked a remote switch to the starter and the engine turned over it is it possible that the control module is bad everything worked fine till i changed the transmission im lost on the newer stuff when it comes to electrical problems im going to try to find someone that will come here and hook a code reader to it to see if it will tell us anything you have any ideas ?-------------------------

Question -
i just replaced the transmission in my 96 pontiac sunfire now the car wont crank it acts like the neutral safety switch put another one on it but that didnt help pulled the starter it checked ok im am not getting any voltage to the switch wire on the solenoid i have checked all the connections on the engine and trans the theft system light is staying on and the daytime running light indicator flashes any ideas what my problem could be ? and how to fix it. thanks.

With the theft light on and the no crank to start,sounds like the vehicle is in theft enable,also check the gray relay mounted on the radiator support above the #2 cooling fan,if the recall was done?,make sure its connections are good and its plugged in,if there is no relay there,then the recall needs to be done,also you can jumpstart the starter at that relay by putting battery voltage to the purple wire.
To relearn the Theft sys,place the key in the ign turn to crank,release and let sit with key in the on position for 10 min,or until the security lamp goes off,after that turn key off for 10 sec,then attempt to start.let me know if you need further help.Thanks

Try seeing if your getting cranking voltage from the ign switch,do you have the service manual handy?see if cranking voltage is on the yellow wire located at the neutral switch on the transaxle,also make sure the switch is adjusted,try moving the shifter around and see if it cranks,let me know.
