Pontiac Repair: engine repair, timing chain cover, head gasket

Question
i have a 94 grand am with 2.3l quad 4 and i have been having problems with it overcooling, moisture in my oil, and rough idle.is there any thing else it could be other than a head gasket?

Answer
Hi, you have a crankcase vent oil/air separator. It can  clogged up, and it would make you thank it's the head gasket. If the engine is runing hot and you are loosing coolant then it could be the head gasket. The separator is mounted on the of the intake manifold. It's a little black box has 3 hoses going to it one to the timing chain cover, one to the oil pan, and one to the air cleaner housing.
