Porsche Repair: porsche 911 oil pressure problem, porsche 911, tank oil

Question
oil comes out of fill tube when engine is running and the oil level is correct. help me fix this ,i'm lost.

Answer
Hi James...

This is a stumper.  Let me get this clear.  If oil is coming out of the filler, then oil has to be inside one or both breather lines to the air cleaner, right?  Is it?

Assuming the filter isn't clogged and backing up everything in the tank, then the next likely place is the pressure pump, that basically pulls oil tank oil out and pushes it into the lubrication stream.  Then you have the scavenge pump that removes oil from the crankcase and sends it to the oil tank to be filtered.  This is less likely the culprit...but if either pump is faulty, that s a whole new ballgame.

I'd rather have you identify the oil routes you can see and take them apart/clean them, so you are sure there are no obstructions.  For example, take the oil filter off and see if there is any obstruction in the entryway or exit paths.  Pipe cleaners could be helpful here.  One thing I just saw in the manual is that the "fire trap" located in one of the beather hoses) has to be cleaned periodically.    The beather hoses would be the next target.  Let's go find that fire trap and start getting really dirty  and greasy!

Let me know what you find.
