Porsche Repair: radiator upgrade heavy duty 1986 944t, aluminum radiators, custom radiator

i am looking for  a radiator  for 1986 944t porsche. i understand there is a heavy duty upgrade available made by technic are maybe someone else. can you help?

I guess I'm not clear if your need for a heavy duty radiator is becauase you're racing or because you're like me....a bigger stronger radiator is always better.

I did a quick search for technic and wasn't able to find what you're referring to.  I did look at Performance Products website and they have 2 styles of radiators for the '86 944's.  Pelican Parts:  http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/944M/POR_944M_waterc_pg1.htm shows six radiators for the 944's of all years.  I  have to believe one is heavier duty than another...and they will likely all fit.  There may be some fabrication on your part, but if you're looking for "heavy duty" you're probably prepared for a bit of installation gymnastics.

I'd consider that if you're not racing the OEM radiators should be adequate.  Is there a possibility you've got another cooling issue you're trying to mask over with a big radiator?  Just asking.

I was looking for a custom radiator once and the shop's proprietor told me that Behr aluminum radiators that are OEM on Mercedes are every bit as good as anything he could construct.  So I'm a Behr convert myself.
