RV Repair: Camper Fridge, rv unit, resonable price

Question
HI I have just been told that the camper in my 1977 Trav'l Mate camper is pooched, and have been told that I should get a new one since its so old.  Seemingly the cooling system is shot.
Anyhow it is Model #40190, Serial # 4RT 06521  the Gas input is 900 BTU / HR  and the measurements are (outside in the camper) 31 inches in height, 21 inches across and 16 inches deep (in the fridge)  The freezer is right across the top and mesures 6 inches in depth, and 16 inches long.
Anyhow  is there an cheaper way to have this fridge fixed, or are there rebuilts out there at a resonable price.  IT needs to be propane/elec.

Answer
What you are describing is typical for that age of Fridge.

To replace a cooling unit is usually cheaper than replacing the entire unit, however, that changes with model.

Usually the cost difference between repairing the original or installing a new one is within a few hundred dollars of each other and you get a better warranty from the manufacturer of the new, complete unit.

If you don't need one that operates on gas like a typical RV unit, you can also find some small household 110v ac units that fit nearly perfect in the cut out.
