RV Repair: Power Panel relay not engaging, time delay relay, progressive dynamics

Question
I have a Progressive Dynamics power panel in my RV
Serial no BV0158 Model No PD765QC16RDTCZB
The thing works fine off shore power, charges the "house" battery, and distributes AC to all the outlets and 1 of the AC units. The power panel will only supply the other AC unit when running off the Onan Gen set. The main power relay won't pull in after the usual 2 minute delay from the time delay relay. My VOM shows that the Time delay relay is working properly, but that is all I can confirm for sure.

Answer
Hi M0oe:
I think there is some problem with your transfer switch and there is something particularly strange about your problem so you best be carefull. Sounds like you have some kind of cross in your power that allows the generator to power up the other air conditioning unit. I would not plug the thing into shore power until you find the problem, it may cost you a burned up generator. The coach has a transfer switch that electrically locks out either the gen set or shore power so the two can't be on at the same time. I think there is a problem with the switch. If I remember right the priority is shore power. When you are plugged into shore power the generator is locked out. When you unplug from shore power the switch turns on the generator side and allows the generator to run the AC in the coach. When one of the two ralays in the switch does not work right then massive problems can develop. You could power the generator windings with shore power and burn it up or worse you could put power back to the shore power line and kill somebody. My guess is that the generator side relay has a set of contact points that are welded together and not releasing. Best pull the switch and check that out completely or just change the relays. Be carefull.
