RV Repair: leaking toilet, toilet seals, leaking toilet

Question
In our 1986 29ft Jayco the toilet has a major leak- problem being we can't figure out how to remove the toilet. We went underneath the camper but everything is enclosed in  black plastic covering. Are we going to have to remove all of this to get to our toilet? .This camper is on  permanent site we do not move it at all. Thanx in advance for your help.

Answer
Hi Jim:
All toilets I have ever worked on are held in by two screws unless they have been modified by somebody after the factory installation. Looking down on the toilet one is at about 5 o'clock the other at about 11:00. They are inside the toilet housing about an inch or so up from the floor. The one at 5:00 is usually accesible trough the hole by the foot valve. The other is hidden behind the toilet and can probably only be felt by hand although getting a wrench on it is fairly easy. They are usually brass nuts, either a 7/16 or 1/2 inch wrench.Make sure you put a new seal in it when you put it back, you can get toilet seals at any hardware store. The toilet valve which is probably leaking is available from a number of vendors on the internet.
Good luck and good RVing.
