RV Repair: scamper pop up - problems, hand crank, dead halt

my husband, just bought an under loved 88 scamper pop-up upon removing the roof to repair the rooted wood sides with new wood, and removing the sides to do minor repair.  upon putting the roof back on, which he feels has nothing to do with the problem at had - the crank mechanism that puts the roof up and down... has come to a dead halt on the rear half-  when the hand crank is completely cranked (down) the front two are so and the back two are at half mast.  after 7 hours of battling this - i have found this web site and begging you... for some instructions that will help my husband out. or atleast a diagram of how the pop up - pop's up.

    I have tried to locate a breakdown for the scamper lift system but have been unsuccessful.  I am not familiar with what type of lift system scamper uses so without being able to look at it I can't give you any ideas of what to possibly look for.
