RV Repair: Exterior repair, hitting the road, prowler

Question
Darren,

Good day. I, (present from wife) recently purchased a '77 Prowler, in pretty good condition, except for the front corner seam. Seems like one of the original owners had a leak, let it go, caulked the heck out of it, and fixed the roof at a later date. The corner framing is now a bit rotted and needs replaced. Is there a book, or repair manual that can guide me through the replacement process? I also have a older 23' Fan trailer parked at a permanent site in north central PA, good condition, no leaks and no problems, great hunting and weekend get away. Shows the importance of keeping the roof in good condition. Anyway, this Prowler will be my first traveler, (wife's request), and I'm looking to "get it right" before hitting the road. Any advise would help.
Thanks, Jim

Answer
Jim,
It sounds like you have taken on quite a challenge.  To my knowledge there aren't any books or manuals that will walk you through this.  Basically you will need to remove anything on the outside that is mounted to the metal, remove the metal starting from the bottom until the rotten framing is exposed enough to be replaced.  It would probably take an experienced technician 30 to 40 hours for this repair depending on what all was involved.  Good luck with your project.
