Saturn Repair: Air Conditioning, saturn sc2, air blow

I have a 95 Saturn SC2. Lately I have been noticing that my air is not getting cold, someone told me that it might be my air  compressor but I don't want to pay alot by taking it in. What would the signs be if that went out besides not having cold air blow out. Should I try adding freon first? Thanks

 I would try adding freon first.  You can get a do-it-yourself freon kit at the parts store for no more than $25.  Most a/c problems are caused by a lack of freon and not by mechanical problems.  If you need to know how to do it, just write me back and I'll walk you through it.
