Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine swap

Question
i have a craftsman dlt3000 with an 18.5hp ohv inteck motor on it with a hole in the block and i am looking at a briggs 18hp motor #42A707  2238. E1 and wanted to know if it will bolt on and work without any mods?

Answer
Since you are replacing with a Briggs it should bolt right on.  If the alternators are the same, Briggs offers a variety of alternators with different electrical connectors, and the throttle cable connection is in the same location then it should be an easy job.

Getting the old engine off and transferring the parts such as the pulley can sometimes be difficult.

Do you have the old engine and pulley removed?
