Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): deere srx75 - will not move, peerless transaxle, transaxle

deere srx75 - will not move - shifter moves ok - engine runs - blades turns but when u step on the gas pedal tractor will not move All the linkage looks in place and it moves -just bought the mower so i do not know any previous symptons

Is the drive belt on?  Looking at the parts diagram you should have a Peerless transaxle...is this correct?
