Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): murray lawn tractor wont crank, murray lawn tractor, briggs stratton

I have a Murray lawn tractor, 12.5 hp, 40" cut, model no. 40708X92A, Briggs & Stratton no. 289707. The mower deck hit a stump while mowing, driving the deck into the blade which instantly stopped the motor. I fixed the deck, and the blades rotate freely, but the motor will not crank. When I turn the key nothing happens. I've checked the wiring and limit switches and charged the battery. The fuse looks OK but don't know how to check it or what else it could be.

The best way to find any problem is to keep it simple. If it's doing nothing, start at the battery and work your way forward, check the solenoid, see if the starter is getting voltage and ground. This sounds like something simple if you take the accident out of the equation. I don't know how it could have caused the mower to do this,but that's the way things are sometimes.
