I think you may have misunderstood the first question I had. I have a new air filter, what I am wondering about is the breather assembly on the side of the engine which I guess has some sort of lung like function. I removed it, and it was fouled with gas. It does not look repairable as there are bent tabs that hold it together. Is it possible to open it and put in a new filter or is it necessary to replace the whole thing?

QUESTION: John,
I have cleaned the breather assembly as you have suggested Thank-you. I have mixed up the push tubes but can identify their difference. My question is which one is the exhaust and which is the compression? My engine model is 28Q777 Type 0681-01 Code:970217ZE.
