Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere blades dont engage, clutch plate, electromagnetic coil

Question
I re-grounded the Pto ground wire and it still won't engage. Ohms on clutch registered around 2. Have also checked fuse. Where is coil? I have a John Deere L130.

Answer
Hello Ron:

>>From your Description it Sounds like the Coil has Shorted and Requires Replacing. 2 Ohms is Lower than Suggested.
>>The Following is a PTO Test File I made. Any Input is Appreciated. **If you have an Ohmmeter, Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Front of the Clutch and Check the Resistance of the Clutch. You should have around 4 or 5 OHMs. If at or near Zero (3Ohms or Less), the Coil has Shorted.**
>>The Coil is the Main Component of the PTO.
>>The PTO is Nothing More than an Electromagnetic Coil that Pulls a Clutch Plate and Engages the Belt.
>>You have to Replace the PTO as a Unit when you have a Bad Coil.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Alphabetical Search File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online (PTO Clutch). *You can Drag the View Windows for Better Viewing.*
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
