Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JD stx38 hydro oil change tuff torq k-50, peerless transaxle, deck units

Question
John, I need to change oil in the hydrostatic drive on my STX 38. Is there a drain plug and what kind of oil should I use. My operators manual list the transmission as a Tuff Torq K-50 but it's real clear type of oil and no procedure.

Answer
Hello Mark:

>>Sorry for the Delay. I have been Unable to Answer Questions Due to Health Issues. Thanks for Understanding.
>>I am Assuming this Unit has a Black Deck as most of the Yellow Deck Units have a Peerless Transaxle.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. *You can Drag the View Windows for Better Viewing.*
>>The Drain Plug is #29 in the "Transaxle Case (Hydro).
>>Open the Power Train File and then the Sub File Listed Above.
>>Most of these Units use a SAE30 Engine Oil. However, I will Locate the Correct Manual in the AM Tomorrow and Send a Follow Up to you with the Correct Fluid Type for the K50A Tuff Torq Transaxle.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
