Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman lt1000 riding mower-hydrostatic movement, craftsman lt1000, tight area

Question
after cutting the grass, i pulled the pull handle on the back of the mower to disengage as to push the mower into a tight area of the garage. when i pulled the lever, it came out with ease. after moving the mower, i tried to push the lever back in but it would not go in. there began a small leak of oil, looks to be coming from the lever housing. has a gear been broke, come loose, etc? any help would definately be appreciated. thanks. jim

Answer
Jim,  I dont think you broke any gears.  All the moving of this lever does is allow the fluid to bypass so you can manually move the wheels.  Try starting the tractor and moving the hydro lever back and forth a few times, THEN put the release lever back into place.  It should return without much problem.
