Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): murray model 465602x8c, speed control lever, hydrostatic transmissions

Question
I have a Murray rider that has lost forward speed. Slower than a snails pace.   Reverse is faster than in forward speed.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Belt is the first thing, but since reverse works well the belt is probably good.

There may be an adjustment for the speed control lever.

The parts list does not idnicate which transmission you have.  Can you find the transmission model number so I can look up the model and see if there are any adjustments.

Most hydrostatic transmissions on Murray mowers are sealed, non-servicable models.  They are not intended to be repaired.  However, I have read message boards where folks have repaired these sealed hydro units.

Do you have your owner's manual?  I can't find a manual online.
