Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi (MTD) 42 Riding Mower Wont Move, wd 40, pucks

Question
I have a 2005 Ryobi 17.5 hp, 42" riding mower that will not move when in neutral or any gear.  When the rear wheel are lifted off of the ground, the wheel move freely, but in opposite directions.  A lawnmower repairman did some kind of adjustment on some linkage and got it to work okay, but within a week, back to same thing.  Any ideas.

Answer
It sounds like you may just have a sticking parking brake, which
happens over winters.

The brake is usually on the right side of the trans, reach up and feel around for it, it has a lever, which actuates on a couple of
"Pucks" which clamp a small rotor, which is the brake, and the
whole works rusts over winter, and when it sticks, can usually
be worked free by wiggling, and you should hear a "Click".

If so, after it is loose, spray some wd-40 on it, and with time it will stop sticking.

Let me know what you find.
