Question
thanks for your help. i started my sears riding lawn mower for the first time this spring & it went imedialetly to full throttle. i shut it off by using full choke &, of course, the ignition switch. i took off the mower hood & heat shield to inspect the carburetor linkage. i couldn't see anything wrong, but them i'm a real amateur. would appreciate your diagnosis. many thanks

The Intek twins have had their share of governor troubles, hopefully
that won't be your problem.  With any luck, your throttle shaft on the carb might just be stuck from sitting over the winter.
Grab the throttle shaft and see if it moves back and forth freely,
if not it may be gummed up and some wd-40 will loosen it up.
Or the throttle plate screw may have fallen out and the throttle plate is cocked in the bore, blocking it open.

Attached is a pic of the inside of one of these engines.  You can see
where the gov. shaft goes into the block, and the gov spool.

Check out the carb and let me know if it looks like it might be the problem or not.
