Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kawasaki engine, crankcase oil, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a new commercial mower w/kawasaki engine and it puffs a white smoke cloud when you first start it. would that be a valve seal problem ???

Answer
Hello Carl:

>>Is it a Single Puff and then Runs Clear or is it White Smoke for a Few Seconds (5 to 15) and then Clears Up?
>>If Just a Brief Puff and then it Clears Up, then it May be the Rings have Not Seated Yet.
>>Do you have 15 to 20 Running Hours on the Enigne Yet?
>>I have Purchased Engines that will Smoke the White Smoke for 5 ot 15 Seconds every Time I Start them for the First 10 to 20 Hours and then Nothing. It Just Stops.
>>I have Spoken to Most of the OEMs on this Matter a Few Times (just Different Models) and was Assured they would Stop and so Far they have.
>>The Extra Gas from Choking Mixed wiht a Little Excess Oil Seeping by the Unseated Rings Causes the White Smoke.
>>I have Not had a Problem with Excessive Oil Loss and Usually when it is at 20 Hours i Change the Oil.
>>Does the Crankcase Oil have a Gas Smell to it?
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
