Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tensioning belt on snowblower, snowblower, model numbers

Question
i have replaced my auger belt after finding it too loose when engaged. I have researched the proper tensioning and have looked it over thouroughly. The idler pulley connects to linkage which the handle "pulls down" to engage the pulley onto the belt. The hole that this pulley's belt goes through is slotted so i figure this is to allow adjustment to tighten/loosen. Problem is, when i tighten the nut....it doesnt hold the position and freely slides in the slot. I cannot see how that it would even move if it did tighten!!!! What am i missing here?!?!?

Hello Jim:

>>Some of these Units have an Adjustment and Others Do Not.
>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.
