Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor #917.258561, craftsman lawn tractor, yellow marker


Question
I was plowing the driveway of i foot of snow and the tractor was having some trouble.I had to go back and forth and i noticed that the gear shift was getting stuck and than i went to move forward again and it did not move.The linkage seems to be okay.The belt looks warn but it seems to be turning the pulley good.It making grinding noise and a little jerking a little.The jerking makes me feel that the Trans might be good but i could be wrong.Any ideas so i can save some money that i don't got. Thanks

>>If the Belt is Turning the Pulley, Is the Pulley Turning the Input Shaft?
>>Use a Yellow Marker or Other Bright Color and put an + in the Center of the Pulley. This should be the Input Shaft. If the + is Turning, then the Problem is Inside the Transaxle.
The Grinding and then Jerky Moition of the Transaxle Suggest a Broken Shear Pin ot Gear.
