Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Gasoline shelf life, gasoline shelf life, gas cans

Question
Hello and thank you for volunteering your time.

I've heard many conflicting issues with storing gasoline. With gas prices at a low, I would like to fill up some gas cans (red poly-plastic type) that I have (two 5 gal. and 2 6 gal). If I add Sta-Bil when I put the gas in the containers, will it still be good to use next spring (about 5-6 months from now). I'm just thinking ahead so I don't have to pay $4.00/gal. next summer to cut my lawn. Would be using the gas just for lawn tractor, push mower, etc., and NOT in my vehicles.

Thanks.

Answer
Hello Tony:

Stabil Usually Extends the Shelf Life of Gasoline to 1 Year. I Suggest Using Any Gas within 9 to 10 Months After Purchase even if you have Stabil Added to it. I Hope this Helps Clear up Any Misunderstanding About Gasoline Shelf Life for you and Others that Read this Post. ***PLEASE REMEMBER TO STORE ANY GASOLINE IN A COOL DRY PLACE AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM HEAT, FLAMES AND SPARKS!!!*** Till Next Time. May All Your Mechanical Problems be SMALL ONES and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks Again.

Best Wishes and Good Luck
