Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 14.5 Briggs & Stratton engine, engine swap

My Craftsman lawn tractor motor (Briggs & Stratton 14.5) has blown the rings on it. Can I replace this engine w/a 16.5 Briggs & Stratton engine off of another Craftsman lawn tractor?

Yes, but be sure the electrical system plugs is to the tractor wire harness.  The mounting bolt pattern will be the same and the crankshaft should be the same too.  The problem is always electrical.. Compare the two schematics.  I think you can get them from www.searspartsdirect.com.  Or they are in the manual that came with the tractor.  Good luck.
