Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Vac Attack engine runs but no suction, yard debris, impellers

Question
Homelite Vac Attack II...  The engine starts, runs OK, sounding normal, but there is no suction (trying to vacuum).  Nothing is in the tube.  Do I just start taking apart impeller to get deeper inside looking for blockage, or what?

Answer
I'm not familiar with this particular product but all vacuums need a impeller That is in good shape.  I would remove  that covers the impeller and check the condition of it.  When vacuuming yard debris impellers will wear rapidly.  Most are easily replaced.  It could also be that the impeller key could be sheared.  This key holds the impeller to the shaft be sure to check it also if the impeller is not turning.  I hope this information helps good luck on your project
