Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Rider stalls, murray lawn tractor, loose ground

Question
I have a Murray lawn tractor. When I start it up it runs OK , then when I engage the blade it stalls out. Befor this it would run for about 5 mins., then stall. I have replaced the air filter, plug, changed the oil and changed the gas with a new filter. The battery does need a charge once in a while. Please help, my grass is getting REAL high.

Thank you, Dave

Answer
If it just shuts off you have a loose ground or intermittent seat switch.  If it bogs down and dies then it likely is not electrical.  Look under the deck to be sure something is not obstructing the blades.  Check the spindles for wear. If not has the engine ever been run low on oil?  If so there can be internal engine problems when it gets hot.
