Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): muffler, plumbing pipe, square style

Question
What can I do if my threads for my muffler have stripped?  Can I use some type fo welding substance to attach the muffler, which has already been retrofitted with plumbing pipe to attach a new muffler because the threads were messed up in the first place.  I have a 12.5 hp Murray 40" riding lawn mower.

Does this Engine Block have the Smaller Holes (1 on each side of the Taped Exhaust Port) for Attaching the Square Style Muffler? Will a Square Style Muffler Work for your Engine Application? Other than Taping the Exhaust Port for a Larger Muffler Stem or Installing a Square Style Muffler, there is Little that can be Done. I have Used the Aluminum Heli-Coils and they Do Not Stay.
