Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi SS30, exhaust port, flywheel

Question
I have a Ryobi SS30 weed trimmer. I just replaced the flywheel after shearing off the "key" on the old one that keeps it from spinning on the shaft. It was running fine before that. Now it doesn't run nearly as fast as it did before Unless I hold the choke lever halfway between start and run. I've already taken the muffler screen out and cleaned it. Can you help?

Answer
Hello Rick:

Why did the Flywheel Key Shear? Did you Look in the Exhaust Port and Check the Piston and Rings for Damage? From your Description it Sounds like the Piston and Jug (Cylinder May be Damaged Due to Improper Oil to Gas Ratio. Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Piston by Looking into the Exhaust Port Using aStrong Light. If the Piston or Jug is Scratched or Gouged, thne this Explains the Flywheel Key Shearing and the Power Loss. You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.ryobitools.com/parts and Select "Go to Ryobi Outdoor Parts Store". Now Select "Repair Parts Catalog". Select I Agree to Terms. Now Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Now Double Click on you Model in the Results Area. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
