Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): my mower will only run wide open, throttle return spring, carburetor

hello,

I just put a new carburetor on my craftsman mower (model number 143.966010 sears)it is a tecumseh. it runs now, before it did not, the only problem is that it will only run wide open, I cannot seem to get it to idle down.  I have adjusted the little bar in all ways possible, but i could be looking at it wrong. If you could help it would be appreciated.

This model carb. has no idle adjustment I believe, nor does it have a low idle mixture screw. The only possible thing it could be is the governor rod, or throttle return spring is in the wrong hole. It's highly recommended to also draw a diagram first, or take a picture to aid in reassembly. Is the spring, or rod hitting any thing and hanging-up? is the rod flipped over the wrong way end to end? This might just require some more time in checking, and rechecking it a few times. ........Tom
