Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): no spark, wheel horse, safety switches

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a wheelhorse 520 h lawn tractor with an onan model #p220g-1710540b engine. I have replaced the coil and the ignition control and still can not figure out why i don't have any spark. the engine turns over but will not start. I have checked all the safety switches and they are all good. the tractor sat for awhile. I put a new fuel filter on with all new lines also and have changed the spark plugs also. any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gary

ANSWER: Hello Gary:

On Some Model Onan Engines there are Point Sets like the Older Automobiles Used in the Distributors. The Point Set on the Onan Engine is Usually Under a Cover (2"X4") on the Engine Block. Wheel Horse is Manufactured by Toro Company. Also, Did you Change the Condenser? Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. **If you Need Assistance in Locating the Model Numbers, then You can Go to this Site Addy; https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Step 1.**  If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John, The mower is a 20hp wheel horse 520h the engine is a p220g onan high performer. I haven't changed the condenser. Is there an oil switch that would cause the engine not to have spark. Thanks Gary

Answer
Hello Again Gary:

Sorry for the Delay, but I had Trouble Locating this Unit. This is a Toro Model 31-20OE02 . Change the Condenser if you have Not Already. If the Condenser is Does Not Correct the Problem, then you can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers. Now Select View Assembly Drawings.  Now Select the 2nd Electrical File. You will See the Low Oil Sensor (#37). Check this Sensor. Now Select the 1st Electrical File. Check the Hot Hydro Oil Sensor (#57) and there are 4 Safety Switches on this Unit that will Cause a Spark Plug No Fire Problem. Make Sure All the Safety Switches are Good. I have had a Few of these that the Circuit Board had Cracked and Cause this Problem. This is Rare, but I thought I should Mention it. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
