Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tractor/engine, piston rod, shortblock

Hi I have a 1999 craftsman 19.5 turbo twin cylinder. Recently The tractor broke down the piston rod broke no damage was caused in the block. I wanted to ask where could I get a new piston or a piston rod also a manual. when  I opened up the block a silver valve was laying inside I'm not sure where it goes the Mod No. is 917.270912 model of engine is 461707 type 0145 E3 Code 0002095A I'm hoping someone can help me I really miss riding my tractor

You can order the L head twin repair manul, part number 271172.

You may be better off replacing the shortblock.  It comes will the internal parts pre-assembled.  You have to tranfer all external parts, including the heads to the shortblock.
