Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): motor swap White tractor/Sears Kohler engine, craftsman riding mower, kohler engine

Question
Hi Ben - been scratching my head for a couple days now and found this site. I have a White riding mower - mod # 136L691F190 - that my mothers husband "forgot" to put oil in. I also have a motor out of a Craftsman riding mower - mod #917.271011 - with a Kohler mod # CV15S spec # 41567 engine. The engine fit right onto the tractor - only had to extend the exhaust to the front a little. But, there a more wires coming out of this engine than the other one. How can I marry these two up? I have had the engine running by jumping from the battery to the carb solenoid but can only shut it off by unhooking that wire. I have checked power coming into and out of the motor, and done the same thing with the tractor to the switch and out of the switch. I guess I just don't understand what needs to go where to charge the system and to start and stop the motor. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Since you replaced this mower with another engine you will have to take out the wiring alternating wiring harness from the old engine and install it in the new engine. All OEM have different wiring needs. The other engine you swapped with has to be the same brand,if it is not you will have to buy a wiring kit for the kohelr engine.
