Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD Mud Bug Engine, briggs and straton, rotary corp

Question
I have an old Mud Bug that hasn't been started for about 20 years. The first thing i checked was if the spark plug sparked and it did not. So after that i sanded off the rust on the flywheel magnets and it still didn't fire. The last thing I did was cleaned the spider webs out of the magneto area and tried 1 last time. It still didn't fire. I case you need to know it was a Briggs and Straton 246cc engine.

Answer
Hello Luke:

On an Engine this Old it Most likely has a Point Set Under the Flywheel that Requires Replacing or you can Replace the Point Set with a Solid State Ign Module (Rotary Corp Part # 8786). You will Also have to Saok and Clean the Carburetor. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers Should be Stamped into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) above the Spark Plug. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
