Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro wont roll backward, assembly drawings, drive wheels

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,
What might be the cause of a Toro Model 20016 self propelled mower not rolling backward. The front wheels are the drive wheels and won't roll backward.
Thanks,
Butch

ANSWER: Hello Butch:

Check the Ratchet Assemblies in Each Wheel. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers. Now Select View Assembly Drawings. The Ratchet Assemblies Allow the Wheels to Roll in Reverse. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hello again John,
I have printed the parts diagram for the wheels and transmission. I don't find a part that is referred to as a ratchet assembly. Am I missing something here? Thanks again for your time.  Butch

Answer
Hello Again Butch:

Sorry. I Should have Looked at the Breakdown. This is a Newer Style Transmission. This Model Does Not have the Ratchet Style Wheels. The Belt Must be Loose Enough for the Transmission to Turn Freely for the Mower to be Pulled Backwards. Make Sure the Belt is Loosening Properly when you Release the Traction Bar. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
