Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Intek Plus 18.5 HP OHV -Will Not Start, hp engine, intek

I have a B&S Intek 18.5 HP engine on my riding mower. It will turn the engine over fine on turning the key to attempt starting, but will not "catch".  There is no voltage reading at the end of the plug wire.  I have put a new solenoid on it as a first step.  Voltage in and out of it is within norms.  From the magneto on... no measurable voltage.  I have rarely had problems with magnetos, but could this be the culprit.  Your thoughts before buying a new one?

If the starter is not catching when you turn the key you probably have a wore gear on the starter. You can check the gear by taking the cover off the engine and looking at it.
