Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh starts but wont run, cyclone rake, internal passages

Question
I have a Cyclone Rake leaf vac with a 6-hp Tecumseh motor, approx 8 years old, ran fine last fall.  Now it will fire a few times but then dies, no matter what the throttle setting.  The gas is fresh, the plug is new, and I have cleaned and blown out the carb.  The only part of the engine I don't understand is the operation/adjustment of the governor.  Could this be the problem?

Thanks.

Answer
Hello David:

Is the Gas Free Flowing to the Carburetor? If you Did Not Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner, then the carburetor can Still have the Internal Passages Trstricted. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. To Reset the Governor; Loosen the Governor Arm Bolt and Turn the Governor Shaft Clockwise Until it Stops. Using the Governor Arm Hold the Carburetor to Full Throttle. Now with the Shaft Full Clockwise and the Governor Arm and Carburetor Held at Full Throttle, Tighten the Governor Arm Bolt. If the Engine Still Runs Full Throttle, then Reverse the Rotation of the Governor Shaft, but Still Hold the Carburetor at Full Throttle with the Governor Arm. If it Still Runs at Full Throttle, then Check the Internal Governor. Usually the Governor will Allow the Engine to Overrev if there is a Problem with it. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
