Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and stratton 19hp twin, no start, briggs and stratton, air gap

Question
I was given a mid 90's Craftsman 42in riding mower because it wouldn't start. At first the starter would not engage, fixed that proplem with new starter. The engine spun over, however no spark.I read on this sight about a no spark condition, I disconnect the small wire from the coil and engine still had no spark.I replaced the coil due to the fact of no spark, still no spark with new coil and air gap set to .020. Could it be a bad stator?. I am at my wits end with this engine, can you help. Thanks Steve

Answer
here is one thing you could try take both coils off wire brush the flywheel there the magnet part is and then wire brush the coils and then gap it with a index card that is the best thing to use then if that doesn't work you will probley have a bad coil or a electrical problem try it and let me know how you make out
