Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oil in lawn mower, crankcase oil, crankcase breather

Question
what happens when you put to much oil in lawn mower.

Answer
Hello Tabatha:

Usually the Engine will Smoke. Also Depending on How Over Filled the Crankcase is the Engine will Lock Up because the Oil Does Not Allow the Piston to Travel Into the Crankcase Area. This Lock Up is Temporary. Once the Crankcase Oil Level is Corrected this Engine Lock will Not be Present since the Oil was Causing the Lock. This is Called Hydraulic Lock. If the Crankcase is Overfilled it will Usually Clog the Crankcase Breather/Vent and this must Sometimes be Disassembled and Cleaned in Order for the Engine to Stop Smoking. What is the Engine Doing? Send me the Model Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
