Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Spiser Transaxle, linkage geometry, spicer transaxle

Question
Can a Spicer Transaxle M.N. 4360-149 from a John Deer L100 replace a Spicer M.N. 4360-134 from a Scotts 1742

Answer
It will be pretty close match but not exact.  You will have to use a little creativity.  One problem you will have is shift linkage geometry.  What's wrong with the original trans?  Unless the original has a big hole blown out the bottom we need to start there.
