Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): JC Penney riding mower, briggs and stratton, murray company

I recently purchased a JC Penney riding mower, Model # 1816, Date of Man is 5107. I am trying to find out who made this mower and where can I get a parts diagram for it. My guess is either Murray or Mtd built it but can't find anything. I believe it was purchased new in 1975. Thanks for any help you can give me!!

JC Penny Mowers were Manufactured by Both MTD and Murray. You will have to Contact Customer Support at MTD (http://www.buymtdonline.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Home_BuyMTDOnline_10101_19...). You can Call them at 1-800-269-6215. For Murray, you May have More Trouble. You will Need to Contact Briggs and Stratton (414-259-5333).
