Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears rear tine tiller, rear tine tiller, rear tine rototiller

Question
I borrowed my neighbor's older Sears rear tine rototiller and when I was tilling I noticed that only one wheel was turning under power. It has counter rotating tines, so it was not tilling well. Needless to say we don't have a manual on it due to it's age. With only the left wheel turning under power, what could be broken in the "transmissiom"? Is ther a roll pin in the gaers on the axle or are they spline fitted? Is ther a parts breakdown, even a generic one, we could refer to for this?

Answer

Hello Again Orville:

LOL Getting me the Info this Way is Fine. I am Allowed to Answer 10 Questions a Day and My New Day Starts at 9pm EST (US). If you Ask the Question Around that Time you May Get Lucky. LOL. Now, Please Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers in the Upper Left Search Box and Click Go. Then Visually Verify the Equipment and CLick Continue. From this Page you can View Diagrams or Parts Lists for you Equipment. From Looking at the Transmission Breakdown, it appears the Gears are Splined to the Shaft. Whenever a Key or Roll Pin or Shear Pin is Used, there is a Listing in the IPL and They are Shown in the Breakdown. Are Your Sure the Wheel Rivet (Goes through the Rim and Axle) is Not Sheared? I have Seen this Happen and the Rust Holds the Outer Sections of the Rivet and it Looks Good. Watch the Axle and See if it is Turning Inside the Rim. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
